Hello, please note that Hornby is not currently shipping to its European dealers. This seems to be due to their shipper (DPD) insisting on pallet loads. I don't know why they don't build up pallet loads to send to any of their three distributors in Europe, and actually use the distributors to distribute. What I can do is place orders for future delivery or, if it is really urgent, use my contacts in the UK to get items and post them.To avoid any problems with longer delivery times due to distance selling regulations, I have removed the "buy it now" label. If you would like to buy any of the Hornby Hobbies products, please send me an email and I will see what I can do. Thank you for your understanding.
Hornby for everything to 1:76 scale, OO gauge. Steam, diesel and electric locomotives. Passenger and freight rolling stock, track (also Ho gauge), station buildings and other structures, analog and digital power controllers, decoders and other accessories. Incidentally 2020 marks the centenary of the Hornby brand and there are many commemorative models including updates of much missed favorites.
Rivarossi, Jouef, Lima and Electroten for Ho gauge (1:87) with a range of continental steam engines including the Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy, C&O 2-6-6-6 Allegheny, diesel and electric trains from the high speed SNCF TGV to slower FS, SNCF and Renfe railcars with their trailers, freight wagons and passenger coaches, plus further buildings.
Arnold, the firm that really established N gauge with their Rapido range continues with a range of model railway stock in N gauge and also TT.
I have been interested in railways, real and model, for as long as I can remember. I am old enough to have seen the last years of Britain's mainline steam when toy shops still had Hornby clockwork O-gauge. Shops were offering British train models, many had foreign prototypes, sometimes realistic and sometimes generic, from Tri-ang, Hornby Dublo (Hornby acho), Playcraft/Jouef, Rivarossi and Lima Ho, Playcraft and Egger Hoe. I still have a great fondness for Tri-ang's "transcontinental" range, Rivarossi, Playcraft and Egger. [Tri-ang bought the remains of Hornby and quickly transferred the tooling to Wrenn, so for a while the Hornby 2-rail designs were available in the white-grey Triang-Wrenn boxes. Shortly afterwards, with Tri-ang itself now in financial difficulties, there was a change in ownership and the traditional red Tri-ang product boxes were now branded with a Hornby label.. When Rivarossi folded it was initially split with American tooling going to the Chinese factories that Walthers has been using while European prototype tooling went to the Chinese factories that Hornby has used. Lima, which had eventually been subsumed by Rivarossi, ended up as one of the Hornby brands producing european prototype models to which can be added Jouef, Arnold and Electroten. [Incidentally Egger ~ Minitrains products are back once more with some new models after an interval of perhaps 30 years]
In 2020 I am also offering the Maerklin group products, these include their venerable range of Ho 3-rail model railway items along with their Z gauge Mini-club and Gauge 1, the equivalent Trix products in Ho 2-rail (when Maerklin took over Trix it effectively replaced the previous "Hamo" 2-rail range) plus MiniTrix N gauge and also the "G" scale LGB indoor + outdoor range. This bit of news is being posted prior to the respective parts of the website being uploaded, I'm hoping that the initial LGB section will be in place late March.
I have been an MTH dealer since 2003 (when they started producing Gauge 1). Their range of products is so wide that I do not pretend that I could store them all, some common items I try to keep in hand, but more often I will obtain to order. Currently MTH offers product ranges in gauge 1, O gauge (1:48 scale american, 1:43 scale european), Ho and S gauge plus tinplate in standard (54mm) and O gauges. Please note that the MTH product prices are denominated in US dollars. Items bought via Railking.co.uk are sold by D P Associates Limited, a Jersey channel islands limited liability company.
If you are interested in live steam models then I can supply Accucraft (which has now taken over the famous Aster brand) and Maxitrak.
Accucraft manufactures live steam models in scale 1:13, 1:18, 1:20, 1:29 and 1:32 to operate on gauge 1 track (45mm), they also produce models to operate on the O gauge ( 32mm) and they often produce electric power versions. The majority of Accucraft products are North American, both standard and narrow gauge, going up in size from small 0-4-0 plantation engines, Shay, Climax and Heisler geared locomotives, a selection of D & RG stock right up to passenger and freight monsters like the Duplex, Selkirk, Big Boy and Allegheny. British, German, Australian and African prototypes are also available and I am pleased to announce that the 1: 13 Decauville 0-4-0 and 1:19 scale 0-6-0 tank engine models are expected to arrive in 2017.
Maxitrak manufactures railway locomotives; steam and electrical in 127 mm, 184 mm, 260 mm and 381 mm gauges. These are powerful enough to pull people around sitting on the rolling stock they produce for this purpose. If you do not have room for a suitable track, then Maxitrak also offers traction engines and steam wagons 1:16, 1:12, 1:6 and 1:4 scales, the smaller steam wagons having the option of radio control and the larger traction engines intended to be controlled from a riding trailer.
I hope that you will find some items of interest on these websites.
If you have a website of your own or run a blog that covers the general subject matter then, as a relatively new site, I would really appreciate any links to the index or other pages, as may be appropriate to your particular interests. Please let me know whether a return link would assist you. On occasion I put entries on the AFRM website (an english language model railway forum intended for those living in France). Sadly it does not seem to be particularly active right now but perhaps you could join in and help change that.
